Goddammit!
I’m going to be a prick for a moment. But that’s ok, I’m allowed. This is the internet. I have the right to express my opinions from time to time. And if your opinion is that my opinions suck, that’s ok too. We’ll talk about it. But not now, I have to be a prick for a moment.
I am not what you would call a small man; I am a larger barrel-chested fellow. My Cosplay ideas are somewhat more limited. But that’s ok because I try to follow the ACen Guy Ping Rules for Cosplayers. And rule one is….guess what! Cosplay your body type. No, really. Cosplay your body type; I know you think you’d make a really good Bridget or Sesshomaru, and I’m sure if you lost 50 pounds and grew seven inches that would be true.
Recently I’ve been hearing some bullshit at cons with attendees grumbling about how a cosplayer isn’t acting like their character. What is the big deal? Getting into character for a Cosplay is fine but lack of such is not that terrible. In fact acting out character is usually more entertaining. For example, at COD-Con 2006 we saw a guy in Stormtrooper gear reading I Jedi. In the movies did you ever see a Stormtrooper reading I Jedi? No! They are usually busy shooting at Luke or Han. But it was funny!
